Bluegrass Energy and Green Living Expo -We partnered again this year with Fayette County Public Schools to fund the children’s activities at the Expo. Lexington is taking a leading role in educating our youth (and adults!) about viable energy alternatives that are so important to their future and the future of the planet. The students participated in creating a collective mural, building a play house with green aspects and passive solar, building a solar oven, played with solar cell activity kits, performed environmental awareness skits and read about energy alternatives in the “book nook”. The space was truly magical and children came to garnered knowledge through inspiration, not obligation – which makes for a wonderful learning experience. The Explorium of Lexington offered Watershed Education. The Environmental 4H Clubs of Kentucky provided a live creature display. The Fayette Soil agency held an essay and poster contest. The Living Arts and Science Center provided info on their ongoing projects. A Sayre High School class provided an energy efficient home display. A job well done by all involved! $2000.00
ZOE Speaks – Drop in a Bucket -Donor advised funds were used to help fund this CD project which focuses on the necessity for each of us to take personal responsibility for our thoughts and feelings.
